CRU MCAP™ Utilisation Studies

The CRU MCAP™ utilisation studies are normally conducted using non-Trust staff engaged by Oakgroup or one of our Partner organizations. The staff are all Registered Nurses who have been previously trained in the use of the tool and review process and are given detailed briefings of the scope of work to be performed for the actual client assignment. Adjustments for specific study focus areas or specific or additional data collection is made during the briefing session.

Utilisation studies can also involve Trust staff in two ways. The first is for Oakgroup to train the Trust staff in the use of the tool and supervise its use in the study; the second is to blend some of the Trust staff with our own trained nurses. While there is the potential to make some small saving in the overall study cost (the cost of training and additional supervision by Oakgroup replaces the direct use of Oakgroup trained nurses), this decision is usually more about whether the Trust wishes to be more involved in the data collection, maintain Institutional knowledge of the study beyond the results and, frankly, whether the Trust has the staff available to commit to the process.

Study costs

The study costs depend almost entirely on the scope of the project, which in turn is the outcome of a consultative review of need and anticipated outcomes. Oakgroup (and its Partner organizations) perform a hands-on scoping exercise with Senior Management to ensure buy-in, need, focus and report outcome requirements before finalizing the study.
